About the Online Biodiversity Encyclopedia

The Online Biodiversity Encyclopedia (OLBE) provides in-depth information about the features shown on the Beginning with Habitat (BwH) maps including species and habitat fact sheets, photographs, conservation information and links to additional information.

The following conservation guides are designed to help land managers, decision-makers, planners, scientists, consultants, and the interested public better understand the rare species and natural communities that characterize Maine.

Funding from LandScope America (NatureServe and National Geographic), Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Gulf of Maine Program made the initial development of these guides possible.
